Kate Somerville Lifting Eye Cream Review

I am very realistic about eye creams.

I do not expect them to erase lines, lift my face or perform miracles while I sleep. If an eye cream can make the area look smoother, sit well under concealer and help me look a bit less tired, I am interested.

The Kate Somerville Lifting Eye Cream caught my attention because it promises a firmer, more refreshed looking eye area. I had also been going through one of those weeks where my eyes looked tired before I had even opened my laptop.

So I decided to use it properly for 7 days, morning and night, without using any other eye cream alongside it.

This is my honest review of the texture, applicator, how it worked under concealer, what I noticed after a week and whether I think it is worth the money.

Quick verdict

The Kate Somerville Lifting Eye Cream is a lovely option if your eye area looks tired, slightly puffy or less smooth than usual.

It did not give me a dramatic lifted effect, and I would not want to oversell it as that. But after 7 days, my under eyes looked a little fresher, my concealer sat better and the skin around my eyes felt more comfortable.

The metal applicator is also genuinely nice in the morning, especially if your eyes look puffy.

Why I tried it

My main concerns were tired looking eyes, fine lines that looked worse under concealer and a little puffiness in the morning.

Nothing dramatic. Just that slightly creased, dull look that makes makeup harder than it needs to be.

I wanted to see if this eye cream could help the area look smoother and more awake after a full week of consistent use.

For the 7 day test, I kept the rest of my skincare routine simple. I did not introduce any other new eye products, because then I would not know what was doing what.

What is Kate Somerville Lifting Eye Cream?

Kate Somerville Lifting Eye Cream is an eye cream designed to make the eye area look smoother, firmer and more refreshed.

I see it as more of a smoothing and comfort eye cream than a dramatic lifting product. It is not going to replace injectables, treatments or sleep. No eye cream is doing that.

But if your under eyes look tired, dry or a bit creased, this is the kind of product that can make the area feel more looked after.

Texture, applicator and first impressions

The texture is creamy but not heavy.

It has enough richness to feel comforting, but it does not sit on the skin in a greasy layer. I used a very small amount around the orbital bone, then tapped it in gently.

The metal applicator feels cooling, which I liked most in the morning. It is not a magic tool, but it does help the product feel more soothing when your eyes look puffy or tired.

I did not apply it too close to the lash line. I kept it around the bone and gently tapped the rest in with my ring finger.

No stinging, no watering eyes and no heavy film.

That was a good start.

How I used it for 7 days

I used the Kate Somerville Lifting Eye Cream morning and night for 7 days.

My routine was simple:

Cleanser
Hydrating serum
Moisturiser
Kate Somerville Lifting Eye Cream
SPF in the morning

At night, I used it after moisturiser and kept my routine gentle.

I used a small amount for both eyes. Eye cream is one of those products where more is not always better. Too much can make concealer move around or make the area feel overloaded.

My 7 day eye cream test

Day 1

On the first day, the biggest difference was comfort.

The cream felt soothing and made the under eye area look a little less dry. I did not see any dramatic change, but my concealer went on more smoothly than it had the day before.

The cooling applicator was also a nice morning touch. Not essential, but pleasant.

Days 2 to 3

By day three, my under eyes looked a bit more hydrated.

Fine lines were still there, obviously, but they looked less sharp because the skin did not look as dry. My concealer creased less through the day, which is one of the main things I care about.

I also liked that it did not pill under makeup.

Days 4 to 5

This is when I noticed the eye area looking a little fresher overall.

Not lifted in a dramatic way. More rested. Less dull. Slightly smoother when I looked in the mirror without makeup.

The puffiness I sometimes get in the morning looked a bit less obvious after using the applicator, although I think the cooling effect helped just as much as the cream itself.

Days 6 to 7

By the end of the week, I would say my under eyes looked softer and better prepared for makeup.

The biggest result for me was not a physical lift. It was smoother looking skin, less dryness and concealer sitting better.

That might sound less exciting than some eye cream claims, but it is much more useful in real life.

How it worked under concealer

This was one of the best parts of the test.

A lot of eye creams either disappear too quickly or leave too much slip under concealer. This one sat nicely in the middle.

I applied a small amount, gave it a few minutes to settle, then used concealer on top. My base looked smoother and I had less creasing than usual.

If you apply too much, it may feel a little rich under makeup. A light layer is enough.

Can it actually lift the eye area?

This is where I think wording matters.

Did my eye area look smoother and fresher after 7 days?

Yes.

Did it physically lift my eye area like a treatment?

No.

I would not call this a mini eye lift, because that would be too much. What it did for me was make the skin around my eyes look more hydrated, comfortable and slightly firmer in appearance.

That is still a good result, but it is important to keep expectations realistic.

Who is Kate Somerville Lifting Eye Cream best for?

I think you will like this if your eye area looks tired, dry or a little creased under makeup.

It is especially nice if you want an eye cream that feels more luxurious than a basic moisturiser but still works under concealer.

I would look at this if your main concerns are:

Fine lines caused by dryness
Puffiness in the morning
Concealer creasing
Tired looking eyes
A smoother looking eye area
A comfortable eye cream for morning and night

Who might not love it?

You may not love this if you expect a dramatic lift or a visible change to deeper lines in one week.

It is also not the best choice if you have very reactive eyes and struggle with most eye creams. I had no stinging, but eye areas are sensitive, so patch testing is sensible.

If you are on a tight budget, I would also be honest and say this is a treat product. There are cheaper eye creams that hydrate well. This one feels more premium, especially because of the texture and applicator.

If you have swelling, irritation, eczema around the eyes or anything painful, I would speak to a pharmacist, GP or skin professional rather than relying on an eye cream.

Kate Somerville Lifting Eye Cream vs Medik8 Crystal Retinal Eyes

These two are quite different.

Kate Somerville Lifting Eye Cream is better if you want comfort, hydration and a smoother looking eye area under makeup.

Medik8 Crystal Retinal Eyes is more of an active eye treatment, especially if you are looking at longer term signs of ageing and you already tolerate retinal well.

I would not use them in exactly the same way.

For a simple morning and night eye cream, Kate Somerville is easier. For a more active evening treatment, Medik8 may make more sense.

Is Kate Somerville Lifting Eye Cream worth it?

I think it is worth it if you enjoy premium eye creams and want something that feels comfortable, smooth and makeup friendly.

At full price, it is not an impulse buy. It is definitely in the treat category.

With a discount code, it becomes easier to justify.

Before ordering, I would check the current Lookfantastic eye care offers because eye cream and skincare offers can change.

For me, the value is in the texture, the applicator and how well it behaved under concealer.

FAQs

What is the best Kate Somerville discount code right now?

My current Lookfantastic code is LFTFNICOLAL, which gives 20% off eligible products when accepted at checkout.

How long does Kate Somerville Lifting Eye Cream take to work?

In my 7 day test, my eye area looked more hydrated and smoother by the end of the week. I would not expect dramatic lifting in 7 days, but I did notice a fresher look.

Can you use it morning and night?

Yes. I used it morning and night during my test and my skin tolerated it well.

Can you use it under concealer?

Yes, and this was one of the things I liked most. Use a small amount, let it settle for a few minutes, then apply concealer.

Does it help with puffiness?

It helped my morning puffiness look a little less obvious, especially with the cooling applicator. I would call it a refreshing effect rather than a dramatic depuffing treatment.

Is it suitable for sensitive eyes?

It did not sting or make my eyes water, but everyone’s eye area is different. If your eyes are very sensitive, patch test first and avoid applying too close to the lash line.

Does it actually lift the eye area?

It made my under eyes look smoother and slightly fresher, but I would not say it physically lifted my eye area. I think it is better described as a smoothing and firmer looking eye cream.

How much should you apply?

A small amount is enough for both eyes. Too much eye cream can make makeup slip or feel heavy.

Can you use it with retinol?

You can use it in a routine with retinol, but I would keep retinol away from the immediate eye area unless it is designed for eyes. If your eye area feels dry or sensitive, keep the routine simple.

Is Kate Somerville Lifting Eye Cream worth the money?

For me, yes, if you want a premium eye cream that feels comfortable and works well under makeup. If you only need basic hydration, there are cheaper options.

The Kate Somerville Lifting Eye Cream is not a miracle eye lift in a pot, and I would not want to present it as one.

What it did do was make my eye area look smoother, fresher and more comfortable after a week of consistent use. My concealer sat better, my under eyes looked less dry and the applicator made mornings feel a bit more soothing.

For me, that is enough to make it a good eye cream.

It is expensive, so I would call it a treat rather than a must have. But if your under eyes look tired and makeup keeps catching on fine lines, this is one I would consider.
