Silk'n Infinity Fast Review

At home IPL only really works for me if the treatment is quick enough that I will actually keep doing it.

That is what initially made the Silk'n Infinity Fast interesting. It can deliver up to 120 light pulses per minute, has 600,000 pulses built into the device and is designed for relatively fast treatment of larger areas such as the legs.

It also uses Silk'n's eHPL technology, which combines optical light with galvanic energy rather than relying on conventional IPL alone.

The important question, though, is not how impressive that sounds on the box. It is whether the device is comfortable to use consistently and whether the reduction in regrowth makes the time and cost price worthwhile.

‍

What eHPL actually means

Silk'n calls the technology inside Infinity Fast eHPL.

It combines optical energy with galvanic energy. Silk'n says the galvanic energy temporarily helps open the pores so the light energy can reach the hair shaft more effectively.

From my point of view, using it does not feel particularly complicated.

There are five energy levels and I can either pulse individual areas or glide the device continuously across larger sections of skin.

The treatment window is 3cm², so it is compact enough for smaller areas but still practical for legs.

I do not think anyone needs to understand the technical side in great detail before using it. What matters more is choosing an appropriate setting, preparing the skin correctly and following the treatment schedule consistently.

‍

What does it actually feel like?

I have found Infinity Fast comfortable to use, but I would not promise that everybody will find IPL completely painless.

On lower settings, I mainly notice warmth and a slight tingling sensation.

On areas where the hair is thicker or darker, the sensation can be a little stronger.

There are five intensity settings, so I would rather use an appropriate comfortable level consistently than immediately push the device as high as possible.

For larger areas, the glide mode makes a huge difference.

Instead of stopping and individually firing every single pulse, I can move the device steadily across the skin while it continues flashing.

That is what makes doing my legs feel manageable rather than turning into a lengthy beauty treatment.

‍

‍

‍

How I prepare my skin

I shave rather than wax before using it.

That is important because IPL needs the hair structure underneath the skin to remain in place. Waxing, plucking and tweezing remove the hair from the root and work against what the device is trying to target.

I personally prefer shaving beforehand and making sure the skin is clean and dry when I use Infinity Fast.

I also avoid putting body lotion, fake tan or other products over the treatment area immediately beforehand.

The aim is simply clean skin with the visible hair removed.

‍

The treatment schedule is longer than you might expect

This is not something I would use every few days until the hair disappears.

Silk'n's current programme spaces treatments out increasingly as you progress.

Treatments one to four are performed approximately two weeks apart.

Treatments five to seven move to approximately four weeks apart.

From treatment eight onwards, further sessions are used only when needed, with maintenance treatments depending on visible regrowth.

That schedule makes much more sense once you understand how IPL works.

Hair grows in cycles, and light treatment is most useful when hairs are in the appropriate active growth stage. Treating the same area repeatedly in quick succession does not mean you will automatically get faster results.

Consistency over time matters much more.

‍

What happened to my regrowth

The change for me has been gradual rather than the hair suddenly disappearing.

What I notice first is that I do not seem to need to shave as often.

As I continue through the treatment programme, regrowth becomes patchier and some areas seem considerably slower than others.

That is a much more realistic way of describing my experience than pretending I became completely hair free after a fixed number of sessions.

Silk'n reports up to 92.3% hair reduction from its own clinical testing, although that particular result was obtained on light skin with dark hair.

I would not take that percentage as a promise of exactly what everybody will achieve.

Skin tone, hair colour, growth cycles, treatment intensity and how consistently you actually use the device can all influence the result.

I also think it is important to describe IPL as long term hair reduction rather than assuming every treated hair will permanently disappear.

Maintenance treatments may still be needed when regrowth becomes noticeable.

‍

Which skin tones and hair colours can use it?

This is one area where Infinity Fast is different from many older home IPL devices.

Silk'n currently says it is clinically tested for all skin tones, including darker skin tones, and compatible with a broad range of hair colours.

That does not mean every possible skin and hair combination will respond equally well.

Silk'n provides a compatibility chart, and I would check that before buying rather than relying on a generic rule about which hair colours do or do not work with IPL.

The company's own clinical result of up to 92.3% reduction was specifically measured on light skin with dark hair, so broad suitability should not be confused with identical effectiveness for every person.

Sun exposure needs proper planning

This is one area where I would follow the Silk'n instructions rather than generic IPL advice online.

For energy levels 2 to 5, Silk'n advises avoiding sun exposure for four weeks before treatment and two weeks afterwards.

The company says energy level 1 is designed so the device can be used after sun exposure.

If treated skin is going to be exposed afterwards, Silk'n also advises using at least SPF30 during the following two weeks.

That means I would not approach Infinity Fast as something I can use casually around tanning, holidays or lots of summer sun without planning the treatment timing properly.

I would always check the current manual as well, particularly if my sun exposure or skin tone had changed since the previous treatment.

‍

Can I use it while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Silk'n advises against using Infinity Fast during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

I would follow that guidance and wait before restarting treatments.

There are also other medical and medication related contraindications listed in the device instructions, so anyone with a relevant condition or taking medication that affects light sensitivity should check the manufacturer's current guidance rather than relying only on a beauty review.

‍

Do I need the Silk'n app?

No.

Infinity Fast works without the app.

The Bluetooth connection is useful because the Silk'n app can help organise treatment dates, send reminders and show information such as the number of light pulses remaining.

There is also a child lock function.

I like the reminders because spacing sessions several weeks apart makes them easy to forget, but I would not buy this device purely because it has an app.

The actual hair reduction treatment does not depend on having my phone connected.

‍

It is not cordless

This is worth knowing before buying.

Infinity Fast is lightweight, but it needs to be plugged into the mains during treatment.

That is not a problem for me at home, but it does limit where I can sit compared with a completely cordless device.

The positive side is that I am not stopping halfway through my legs because a battery is running low.

Whether that trade off matters will depend on how and where you plan to use it.

‍

Silk'n Infinity Fast vs Silk'n 7

Silk'n 7 is the more advanced device in the current range, but it is also considerably more expensive.

Both offer up to 120 pulses per minute and 600,000 light pulses.

Infinity Fast has the 3cm² treatment area and the eHPL system in a relatively straightforward device.

Silk'n 7 adds more flexibility with a larger adjustable treatment surface, several attachments and a rotating head designed to make different areas easier to reach.

I would look at Infinity Fast if I wanted the core Silk'n hair reduction technology without paying for all of the extra design features.

Silk'n 7 makes more sense if those attachments and the easier access to different body areas are valuable enough to justify the additional cost.

I do not think everybody automatically needs the most expensive version.

‍

What about other home IPL devices?

There are now plenty of alternatives, and the differences are not only about how powerful the light sounds.

Cooling, treatment window size, cordless operation, speed and how comfortable the device feels can all matter when you are going to use something repeatedly for months.

I have also reviewed the FOREO PEACH 2 Go IPL device, which takes a different approach and is worth comparing if portability is particularly important to you.

Sephora UK carries FOREO IPL devices, so I also check the Sephora beauty offers I currently use when comparing alternatives.

I would choose between devices based on the areas I actually want to treat and how likely I am to keep using the design consistently rather than simply choosing whichever claims the biggest percentage reduction.

‍

Is Silk'n Infinity Fast worth it?

I think it makes most sense if you currently spend a lot of time shaving or regularly pay for other methods of hair removal.

It is a substantial upfront cost, but the device contains 600,000 pulses and does not require replacement cartridges after every few treatments.

The bigger consideration is whether you will actually follow the programme.

Buying an expensive IPL device and using it three times before putting it in a cupboard is obviously poor value.

If I am prepared to shave beforehand, keep track of treatment dates and continue with occasional maintenance, the cost becomes easier to justify because I am aiming for progressively less regrowth rather than a temporary result after every shave.

Lookfantastic stocks the Silk'n Infinity Fast, and I normally check where I can currently save on Silk'n at Lookfantastic before ordering.

My usual code to try is LFTFNICOLAL, which gives 20% off eligible products when accepted at checkout.

With beauty devices in particular, I never assume the code will automatically apply because the product may already be discounted or excluded from a promotion.

I therefore check the actual basket total.

I also look at the Look Fantastic beauty device savings I currently use because a retailer promotion can make a significant difference on a high priced purchase.

‍

Who do I think it suits best?

I think Infinity Fast suits somebody who wants serious at home hair reduction without buying the most expensive device in the Silk'n range.

It is particularly useful if you want to treat larger body areas because the fast glide mode makes the process much easier.

I would be less enthusiastic if you hate being tied to a mains socket, know you will struggle to maintain the treatment schedule or want a device specifically designed around portability.

I would also check the Silk'n skin and hair compatibility information before purchasing rather than simply assuming IPL will give everyone the same result.

For me, the biggest benefit is not becoming completely hair free overnight.

It is having progressively less regrowth to deal with.

‍

How often should I use Silk'n Infinity Fast?

Silk'n currently recommends treatments one to four approximately every two weeks, followed by treatments five to seven approximately every four weeks.

After that, treatments are performed as needed depending on regrowth.

Can I wax between IPL treatments?

I would not.

Silk'n recommends shaving and advises against waxing, plucking or tweezing because IPL needs the hair structure beneath the skin to remain present.

Does Silk'n Infinity Fast hurt?

I personally find it comfortable.

I notice warmth and sometimes a slight tingling sensation, particularly where hair is thicker, but there are five intensity settings so I can adjust the treatment to a comfortable level.

‍

Silk'n Infinity Fast makes the most sense to me as a long term reduction tool rather than a device promising instantly hair free skin.

The actual treatments are straightforward, the glide mode makes larger areas reasonably quick and I like being able to adjust between five intensity levels.

The treatment schedule does require patience.

The sessions become more widely spaced as you progress, and maintenance may still be needed when regrowth appears. This is not something I would buy expecting to use for a couple of weeks and then forget about forever.

I also think the mains powered design is worth considering. It gives me uninterrupted treatment time, but a cordless device would obviously be more convenient in some situations.

What matters most is that I have seen my regrowth become slower and patchier with consistent use.

For me, that is the result I actually want from home IPL.

If I can spend less time shaving and maintain that with occasional treatments at home, Infinity Fast becomes much easier to justify.

Final rating: 4.5/5
